It is an ammonia-free permanent colour that covers grey hair for a natural, intense and shiny result.

It does not contain ammonia, resorcinol, alcohol, paraben or fragrance, and has a very low concentration of hydrogen peroxide. Its formula is dermatologically tested on sensitive skin and allows you to lighten your natural colour up to a maximum of 2 tones. It is sold through health food stores, natural stores and pharmacies in more than 45 countries worldwide.

Inside the Permanent Hair Colour Gel packaging, you will find:

Can I keep the bottles after opening? They can be kept for a period of 12 months if properly sealed (without mixing up the caps) and stored in suitable conditions, away from moisture and at normal temperature. We recommend storing the bottles in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.

No. Once the colour and developer are mixed, the permanent colour gel is ready and must be used immediately. After application, the remaining product must be discarded as it will no longer be effective.

The Herbatint colouring gel is not suitable for colouring eyelashes or eyebrows and is not intended for use on beards and moustaches. Improper use of the product is strongly discouraged.

As a permanent colour, the permanent colouring gel does not wash out. However, the colour may lose intensity if aggressive products or treatments are used.

Regularly using Color Safe shampoo and Royal conditioner after applying the Herbatint permanent colouring gel ensures that the colour remains intense for longer.

While a plant-based colouring coats the hair with pigments like a glove, the permanent colouring gel gently penetrates the hair without damaging it, providing a natural and luminous colour, and is compatible with other treatments such as highlights.

The Herbatint permanent colouring gel is available in 28 mixable shades, whereas plant-based colouring offers a limited choice of colours.

During the permanent hair colouring process, the hair cuticles open and close at the end of the processing time, which can affect the condition of the hair differently depending on the hair type and the product used. The Herbatint permanent colouring gel has a formula tested on sensitive skin and uses a very gentle developer with minimal cosmetic ingredients. The 8 plant extracts it contains help with hair restructuring, enhancing the intensity of the hair colour for a natural and long-lasting result.

PPD (p-Phenylenediamine) is currently an essential ingredient in permanent hair colouring due to its proven effectiveness. This ingredient is highly regulated in Europe and globally, allowing concentrations that pose no risk to consumers. According to Regulation EC 1223/2009 and its amendments, the maximum permitted concentration of PPD in the ready-to-use mixture is 2% (after mixing the colour part with the oxidising part, i.e. colour bottle and developer bottle).

The amount of PPD in Herbatint gel after mixing is six times lower than the European limit. We have chosen to continue using an ingredient that has been tested over the years, keeping its concentration well below the limits.
When a permanent hair colour does not contain PPD, it contains an equivalent ingredient, such as Para-Toluenediamine (PTD), for which allergic reactions cannot be excluded, just as with PPD.

The Herbatint permanent colouring gel is not tested on animals, in compliance with the European Regulation (EU 1223/2009), and is produced in Italy in accordance with the highest international standards (GMP).

Herbatint opposes animal testing anywhere in the world and does not use ingredients of animal origin. Its formulas are suitable for vegans.

IDENTIFY YOUR NATURAL TONE

Start by identifying the shade of permanent colouring gel that best matches your natural hair tone, ranging from 1N (Black) to 10N (Platinum Blonde). Your natural tone is the colour of your hair at the roots, not the lengths. This will help you determine your starting tone. If you’re unsure, you can also refer to your eyebrow colour, which is usually quite similar.

DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO LIGHTEN YOUR HAIR, KEEP IT NATURAL OR DARKEN IT

If you can’t decide between two colours, we recommend always starting with the lighter shade. It will be easier to darken later if you don’t like the result, whereas lightening will be more difficult.
Note: If your hair has already been artificially coloured, you cannot lighten it further, only maintain the same tone or darken it.

All shades of the permanent colouring gel are mixable, allowing you to personalize your colour by combining different tones and nuances. The only rule to follow is the 1:1 mixing ratio between the total colour and the developer.
Can I apply the permanent colouring gel if I have treated my hair with henna products (or Vegetal Color)?
It is not recommended to use the permanent colouring gel on hair treated with henna. Henna creates a coating around the hair, preventing the colour from penetrating. It is recommended to let the henna grow out completely before proceeding with the Herbatint permanent hair colouring gel. In any case, we recommend performing a strand test to assess the colour result before proceeding.

It is not recommended to colour hair immediately after a perm. It is better to wait about two weeks, and after this time, remember to reduce the processing time on the lengths by 10 minutes. This is because the porosity of the hair may be greater after the perm, and therefore the colour may require less time to take effect.

There is no permanent hair colour that can lighten previously coloured hair. The only colour result that can be achieved on already coloured hair with this type of product is darkening it or playing with tone-on-tone highlights.

Yes. There are no issues with doing highlights on hair coloured with the Herbatint permanent colouring gel.

Over time, the natural undertone of the hair may sometimes emerge, tending towards red or orange. To neutralize this, we recommend mixing your usual colour with a shade from the C=Ash series.

Put on gloves and mix a small amount of the colour bottle and developer bottle in a small bowl. Take a small section of hair (from a hidden area of your head) and apply the gel along the entire strand. Use a piece of aluminum foil to cover the strand and leave it on for 40 minutes. Remove the foil, rinse, dry and check if the colour is what you desire.

You can protect the hairline along the face by applying a barrier cream, which can be substituted with a thick cream such as hair wax or an ointment.

The permanent colouring gel is a gentle formula without ammonia, tested on sensitive skin. Nevertheless, it is always recommended to perform a sensitivity test 48 hours before using the product (further instructions are in the packaging). We have heard many positive reviews from women who used the Herbatint permanent colouring gel a few months after completing a chemotherapy cycle.
